Position Description

Primary purpose:

As a member of the Business Processes group, the successful candidate will be responsible for the system set-up, maintenance, and administration of a wide spectrum of contracts (processing, purchase, sale, transportation, storage, gathering, etc.) The incumbent interfaces extensively with accounting, contract management group, business development, customers, and field operations to process and administer customer contracts and support billing.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Entry of contractual terms and tariffs into Kinder Morgan proprietary computer systems

  • Maintain contracts as per terms of agreement

  • Assist internal customers with accounting queries and problems with contract related invoices

  • Provide support to the Segment Accounting Group

  • Troubleshoot issues when contract data does not interface to downstream systems and coordinates resolution with IT and affected stakeholders

Job level will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Position Requirements

Education:

  • BS or BA degree, or equivalent experience, in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or General Business.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills for dealing with customers, both internal and external.

  • Ability to achieve results with accuracy, a sense of urgency, and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to read and comprehend business contracts through work or educational experience.

  • Ability to learn industry specific computer software

  • Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.

  • Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and priorities, and handle work interruptions.

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction.

  • Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude.

  • Understanding of petroleum pipelines and terminals.

  • Knowledge of Merlin billing system is a plus.
