We’re seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill the role of Senior GIS Data Analyst within our Geospatial Technology & Data organization based in Houston, TX. Reporting directly to the Manager of Geospatial Technology - Permian, the Senior GIS Data Analyst is responsible for creating, maintaining, and delivering operational GIS data, map products, reports, and solutions to various business units and departments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and digitize land agreement spatial data, support maps, web maps, and GIS models using tools like ArcGIS ModelBuilder and FME desktop.
  • Utilize automation and technical expertise to continuously improve workflows, dataflows, and solution delivery.
  • Apply spatial analysis techniques to address business questions and support decision-making processes.
  • Create ad-hoc mapping or report products from operational data for variety of departments or needs.
  • Consult with business units to identify changes or enhancements needed to ensure operational data continues to meet business requirements.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for operational GIS data within Geospatial Technology & Data.
  • Continuously review operational data for quality and coverage.
  • Identify possible efficiencies in workflows or dataflows for time savings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Geography, Geographic Information Science or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience mapping spatial data from land survey descriptions i.e. metes and bounds or quarter calls, less and excepts.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining data within SDE databases.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in upstream oil & gas industry.
  • Minimum 5 years GIS experience using Esri software.
  • Functional knowledge of core GIS concepts like coordinate systems and transformations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand customer requests which are frequently in non-technical terms.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Geographic Information System certification.
  • Functional knowledge of upstream oil & gas business objectives, jargon, and data concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server databases and SQL queries.
  • ArcGIS ModelBuilder and/or FME experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Python scripting.
  • Excellent people skills with ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot geospatial data related issues.
  • Creative and critical thinker with focus on process improvement and efficiencies.
  • Ability to prioritize work with low levels of supervision.
  • Self-driven with a positive attitude and open to new ideas and methodologies.

 

Relocation will not be provided.
