The Analyst, Category Management Insights role is responsible for delivering insights and recommendations to optimize Sysco’s product assortment, supplier relationship, placement, price, and category strategy. This individual will work cross-functionally to inform and influence strategic business decisions. Additionally, this role will require close collaboration with our Merchandising partners to continuously improve results within the respective business unit/category, analytical processes, and define or enhance best business practices/procedures.
Execute critical projects/advanced analytics requested by direct supervisor and/or Merchandising team with a sense of urgency
Drive continuous improvement of analytics and processes to deliver meaningful insights based on strategic KPIs, hypotheses, and metrics
Collaborate with Merchandising to define the category strategy and optimal assortment through data-driven insights
Identify problem scenarios and devise analytical solutions to contribute to the overall profitability of Sysco Merchandising
Develop in-depth business, analytical and systems knowledge to improve or build analytical solutions, approaches, and business recommendations
Demonstrate data visualizations (Power BI, Tableau, Excel), and analytic tools (R, SAS, JMP, Python, Spark) to extract business insights from Sysco’s mountain of data
Bachelor's Degree required (Business, Computer Science, Mathematics or Analytics degree preferred) or relevant Sysco experience in lieu of a degree
2+ years of relevant professional experience required
Advanced Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, graphing, data connections, and automation using macros and VBA) skills
Intermediate Microsoft Access and PowerPoint
Data management and visualization skills/tools (SQL, Tableau, PowerBI or similar)
Theoretical knowledge of statistics and quantitative analysis techniques (e.g. spreadsheet modeling, regression analysis)
Project management capabilities preferred
Exposure to category management preferred
Experience working in distribution, retail, or wholesale industry preferred
