Robert Half Accounting Specialist in Houston, Texas

Description We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our operation in Houston, Texas. This role is central to our industry, where you will be tasked with processing customer applications, maintaining customer records, and resolving inquiries. Your position will also involve monitoring customer accounts and responding as necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Process customer credit applications thoroughly and accurately

• Maintain precise records related to customer credit

• Resolve inquiries from customers in a timely and detail-oriented manner

• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action where necessary

• Ensure accuracy of check registers against batch status reports

• Prepare checks for mailing, including Certified Regular FedEx and delivery to the mailroom

• Handle special handling requests and attachments associated with outgoing checks

• Conduct check cancellations and 'Do Not Mail' requests as needed

• Oversee the monthly check processing of various uploads, including printing checks and matching with attachments and certified requests

• Maintain Certified Mail Log and FedEx Daily Closing Report

• Keep all check stuffing and printing equipment in good condition, including check stock toner and envelopes for daily use

• Archive check related data

• Run payment program function for electronic payments

• Receive and review notifications from the banks on checks needing decisions to pay

• Correct Payment Failures due to various reasons received from the banks

• Manage mailboxes associated with Payment Admin/Check Admin areas

• Research and resolve payment issues

• Recommend and evaluate improvements and streamlining opportunities in areas of responsibility. Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is mandatory

• Experience in Accounts Payables

• Familiarity with Payment Processing is necessary

• Proficiency in Check Processing methods

• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint is a plus

• Excellent Time Management skills are required

• Familiarity with Tax procedures and rules

• Experience in Printing processes

• Ability to work Onsite when necessary

• Ability to manage Notifications and alerts

• Proficiency in Transaction Processing

• Experience in Mailroom operations

• Experience with Certified Mail procedures
