JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the CID Sergeant, the Criminal Intelligence Technician will extract
documents and data from multiple electronic sources generating a logical framework of
understanding. The Criminal Intelligence Technician will ensure the proper collection,
assessment, correlation, of criminal information for the Hot Springs Police Department. The
Criminal Intelligence Technician will serve the Support Operations Bureau directly and indirectly
support the Field Operations Bureau both as a conduit of information and an active collaborator
to generate actionable intelligence for the police department. This position is responsible for
extracting/collecting data from investigative files or devices related to investigations that guide
and direct CID. They will also assist in maintaining of property/evidence and/or
property/evidence records.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Completes the extraction of digital information utilizing multiple platforms.
Analyze digital evidence and/or completed reports to determine what additional information
may be needed.
Collects and conducts forensic examinations of electronic evidence and/or electronic
equipment in criminal investigations. These systems and data types include but are not
limited to digital video, audio, and any other digital data to aid in digital forensic
examinations.
Collects, packages, and transports evidence to the Hot Springs Police Department and/or the
Arkansas State Crime laboratory.
Works in conjunction with criminal investigators in regard to evidentiary matters and
maintains confidentiality of investigations.
Able to operate a variety of emerging mobile devices.

Works in conjunction with state and/or federal prosecutors to prepare for court proceeding
and testifies in court as needed.
Attends training in related field for professional development.
Assists the property evidence technician in the maintaining of property/evidence and
property/evidence records, supplies.
Gathers, collects, records, and stores property/evidence items.
May work with biohazard materials.
Checks property forms and inventories property/evidence.
Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Supervision Received:
Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on
routine work, referring all questionable cases to supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a
specific skill area, e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, current in
emerging technology involving mobile communications, etc., plus two (2) years related
experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver\'s license.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check including financial disclosure.
Must pass a basic physical examination by a physician.
Must submit to and pass a polygraph or computer voice stress analysis examination prior to
employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,
clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
