Position Summary

The CAR-T Senior Manager, Cell Therapy Experience is located within the Janssen Oncology commercial marketing organization reporting into the Director, Cell Therapy Experience, and will serve as a core member within CAR-T Operations. The role represents a unique opportunity to shape and deliver a field-based customer facing role (Cell Therapy Experience Lead or CTEL) supporting the ongoing commercial launch of CARVYKTI. This individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Cell Therapy Experience Lead Team across the established CAR-T commercial model.

In this role, you will mentor, develop, and lead a team of Cell Therapy Experience Leads (a core field-based account management within CAR-T Commercial Operations), provide overall strategy and guidance for the team, and collaborate with internal and external partners in support of the CARVYKTI team’s strategic goals.

The field based Cell Therapy Experience team supports the network of CARVYKITI certified sites in the end-to-end order fulfillment process and will:

  • Serve as subject matter experts on CAR-T operational considerations, and seek opportunities for continued operational efficiency and improvement through ongoing discussions with certified sites

  • Plays “Quarterback” for complex, multi-stakeholder onboarding processes for currently non-certified sites

  • Educate customers on overall logistics and distribution of CARVYKTI

  • Provide sites with the educational resources and requirements for end-to-end order fulfillment and operational needs

  • Provide training on appropriate use of order fulfillment portal

Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds, leads, coaches, motivates, and manages the CTEL team

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard a high functioning team

  • Conveys technical and behavior knowledge to team members (CTELs and other extended team)

  • Optimize footprint of CTEL team; resource balancing and allocation to support national footprint

  • Manage day-to-day activity of the CTEL team, including supervision of Janssen and contracted employees to drive team performance

  • Provide verbal and written feedback to team members based on performance reviews, customer feedback, KPIs, and observed behaviors

  • Shape creation of on-boarding strategy and content for new CTELs

  • Drives and implements program strategy for the CTEL team to ensure a superior customer experience for CARVYKTI

  • Leverages available insights and data to drive continuous improvement initiatives

  • Creates and implements controls documents and Rules of Engagement (ROEs) for CTEL team

  • Serve as liaison between multi-functional field teams (both demand and non-demand generating roles internal and external to Janssen) and Janssen Commercial Operations and collaborates with partners across the matrix

  • Manages relationship and contracts with CSO, as required.

  • Coordinates and facilitates quarterly reviews with leadership and cross-functional partners to inform performance and health of the CTEL team supporting CARVYKTI

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. Advanced degree is preferred

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the healthcare industry is required

  • People leadership experience is required

  • Oncology CAR-T, cell therapy, and/or hospital based experience is preferred

  • Experience leading field-based teams (e.g. sales teams or field medical teams) or contractors is preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years clinical/clinical operations experience is preferred

  • Bone Marrow Transplant, CAR-T, Infusion Center or Cell & Gene therapy experience preferred

  • Experience in working/leading cross-functional teams to coordinate and execute plans and projects across relevant stakeholders(s) is strongly preferred, e.g. Account Management, Medical

  • A valid driver's license issued in the United States is required

Candidates may live anywhere on the West Coast of the US in a major metropolitan market with easy access to a national airport. This position requires up to 50% domestic travel.

The base pay range for this position is $118,000 to $203,550. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. This position is eligible for a company car through the Company’s FLEET program.
