RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises the day-to-day operations, and coordination and integration of services, programs and activities of Anesthesia Services.

• Ensures operations and functions are in compliance with regulatory requirements and the policies and procedures of the Medical Center.

• Serves as the manager of the department/unit in the absence of the Manager as assigned.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Seeing, hearing, speaking, finger dexterity, standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, lifting usual weight of 2 pounds up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling usual weight up to 1 pound of force, carrying usual weight of 20 pounds up to 25 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object.

• Occasional: sitting, climbing steps, kneeling, crawling, squatting, static gripping of an object.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Exposure to body fluids, blood products and communicable diseases.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, healthcare or related field; or four (4) years experience in healthcare may be substituted for the educational requirement.

• Current certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) preferred.

• Current BLS certification.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• In addition to the educational requirement, three (3) years experience as an Anesthesia Monitoring Technician, preferably in a comparable institution.

• One (1) year supervisory/leadership experience.
