Position : Engineering Specialist

Location : Honolulu, HI

Job Purpose :

This position is responsible for managing one or more essential engineering duties in support of the engineering work order life cycle process. This includes but is not limited to, managing joint use, joint pole, conduit occupancy, and pole attachment agreements; processing permits and easements; contract/contractor administration; managing vendor invoices for payment; receiving and processing Aid-to-Construction, Utility Agreements, and other work order bill closing activities; managing developer and consultant plan reviews; gathering, processing, and analyzing engineering data; and responding to internal and external construction inquiry calls. The individual will interact with various groups including NEAT, Finance, Accounts Payable, Planning, Engineering, Field Operations, Construction and external municipalities, CLECs, Utilities, and developers.

The individual in this position must display a balanced approach, use independent judgement and discretion between day-to-day operations, managing work queues, managing projects, understanding the needs of internal and external customers, handling multiple escalations and priorities and understanding the team's role in the company.

Essential Functions :

  • Manage CLEC and Utility operating agreements in regard to use, replacement, and maintenance of pole and underground infrastructure including tracking notifications, responses, and billing

  • Manage work order contracting activity including contract awarding and the vendor invoicing processing and monitoring vendor spending

  • Receive, track, and monitor project plans received by engineering from developer, consultants, and customers using discretion on priorities

  • Receive, process, analyze, and reconcile all work order billing closing activity

  • Develop reports and studies utilizing engineering data for analysis

  • Order, design and draft basic work orders including keep cost billing work orders

Education :

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience :

0 to 2 years in related field

Supervisory Responsibility :

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment :

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.

Salary Range: $60000 - $84000
