DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will oversee the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure they meet contract specifications and departmental standards. This includes verifying compliance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. You will be responsible for assigning and reviewing tasks, as well as providing necessary training to team members. Additionally, you will perform calculations and create sketches to assist in addressing any field issues that arise. Your duties will also involve preparing reports and maintaining essential records. You will supervise and inspect the placement of materials, ensuring that elevations and grades for structures, drainage, and roadway work are accurate. Furthermore, you will compile and draft necessary documentation, including work order justifications, technical reports, and correspondence related to construction matters.
You will manage the inspection of various aspects of highway and bridge construction, which encompasses grade elevations, stakeout of roadways and structures, as well as the installation of bituminous or concrete surfaces, guide rails, drainage systems, signage, traffic control devices, and excavation activities.
In addition, you will utilize the ECMS system for project documentation, processing payment estimates, managing work orders, and issuing Authorizations for Contract Work. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other electronic mail programs will be essential for effectively sending and receiving information electronically.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Condition of Employment:
This position will require possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
