Position Summary
This position sets up, monitors, and executes chemical processes according to a specified batch record using various unit operations while utilizing safe manufacturing practices. This position will require the candidate to work onsite at the Holland facility. This position is a non-union position.
Responsibilities:
Executes and documents chemical processes as specified in the associated batch record using various unit operations including heating, cooling, chemical additions, reactions, distillations, crystallizations, filtrations, and drying and milling operations while following all applicable safety procedures. Prepares equipment for chemical processes by utilizing appropriate cleaning procedures.
For various chemical operations, sets up and adjusts equipment, piping, and hoses; stages supplies, including receiving, sampling, and moving raw materials; and prepares, labels, and moves waste for appropriate disposal.
Prepares equipment for chemical processes by utilizing appropriate cleaning methods.
Confers with staff on equipment and instrumentation requirements and capabilities and assists site maintenance in troubleshooting and solving equipment and instrumentation issues.
Works with staff and the analytical lab to perform in-process quality control analysis as required to determine the status of a chemical synthesis and ensure critical processing parameters have been met.
Assists the site maintenance department with operation of the facility and works with site tenants as required to meet their needs.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a related science field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic laboratory techniques; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; the job may require specialty certifications, approvals, or training; may require successful completion/continued maintenance of accessibility standards.

Seeking candidates who are strong problem solvers, self-motivated, highly reliable individuals who enjoys learning new things. Desired experience for this position includes 1-3 years work experience as an operator in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or food industries.
