Eaton Corporation Engineering Manager - Busway Product Line in Hodges, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Engineering Manager - Busway Product Line. Relocation assistances will be offered to candidates that live 50 miles outside of Hodges, SC facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $120075.03 - $176110.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Engineering Manager – Busway Product Line is a critical role for Commercial Products & Assemblies Division and the Busway Product Line. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to lead design engineering operations for Busway new product introduction programs, including overall responsibility for assessing, developing, and maintaining engineering capability to support best in class new product development, cost out through design (VAVE), and sustaining engineering. This position is accountable for defining and systematically maintaining engineering best practices, technologies and introducing emerging technologies to meet New Product Revenue and Vitality targets, cost out savings targets via redesign (VAVE) and supporting the maintenance of existing products including material substitutions, design quality improvements and codes and standards changes. In addition, this role is responsible for optimized product cost, quality and customer acceptance for all Busway products within the Commercial Products & Assemblies Division.

What you’ll do:

A. Lead a team of 20+ Engineering Managers, Engineering Supervisors, NPI Design engineers, VAVE Engineers & MOL Engineers, Design Technicians, Product Engineers, and Laboratory Technicians in the United States, India and Mexico - direct, indirect, and contract employees to research, design, and maintain designs for track style and sandwich style busway, and related products.

B. Collaborate with CPA division and Busway product line leadership to identify and develop robust solutions for market wants and needs.

C. Acts as key member of the Commercial Product & Assemblies Division engineering leadership team, and also acts as a key member of the Eaton Hodges manufacturing site leadership team representing Busway product engineering.

D. Develop a strong engineering culture to maintain product integrity while researching and developing product changes at pace with market needs.

E. Develop a strong team culture to drive employee engagement, retention and professional development.

F. Promote professional growth through performance feedback, coaching, career development discussions and mentoring.

G. Set team and individual goals and objectives that provide a clear understanding of achievement.

H. Establish and maintain safe work practices and a positive safety culture that complies with government regulations and Eaton MESH requirements.

I. Maintain a safe work environment by providing a facility, manufacturing methods, tools and equipment that comply with government regulations and Eaton MESH requirements

J. Leadership of engineering expense and capital budgets and administer necessary controls to insure effective attainment.

K. Provide technical support to Eaton sales, engineering services, and other product lines with regards to busway products.

L. Maintain active membership and leadership positions within standards groups including UL STP, NEMA, and CANENA. Provides a presence on relevant industry technical societies and helps drive codes and standards favorable to the product line.

M. Works with internal and external customers in support of developing engineering specifications for any product development needs.

N. Develop market and competitive analysis information and identify specific opportunities for growth.

O. Remain current on changes in technology, industry trends, standards, and regulations that impact electrical distribution products. Maintains multi-generational 10-year technology roadmaps.

P. Collaborates with the Busway product line marketing team to maintain a 5-year strategic product roadmap.

Q. Coordinate all NPI projects in support of division, busway product line and plant objectives. Manage improvement efforts using tools such as Design for Six Sigma, PROLaunch and Continuous Improvement.

R. Support legal and risk mitigation efforts as required.

S. Effectively communicate plans, risks, status of deliverables to teams, Eaton leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education and Minimum Experience Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.

-Minimum of 5 years of product design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

-Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in engineering, physics, mathematics or computer science.

• 1 year of experience as a manager of people.

• Deep understanding of the physics of electricity, power distribution, UL and IEC safety standards.

• Understands the Electrical Power Distribution market, regulatory influences, the competitive landscape and broader context of the business strategy

• Advanced proficiency in software, cloud, firmware, electronics and application development.

• Business-savvy, team player working collaboratively with all functions achieve the Commercial Products & Assembly Division goals

• Communicates an inspiring vision of the future across the organization.

• Empathizes and actively learns about customer’s needs and how they create value

• Navigates through ambiguity and deals with the paradox of making quality decisions amidst uncertainty.

• Takes an active role to invest in developing talent to meet the needs of the future business

• Shows a global perspective and cultural awareness to interact with colleagues across geographies and takes an inclusive approach to drive alignment.
