PETTIGREW & ASSOCIATES PA Civil/Geotechnical Engineer in Hobbs, New Mexico

Civil/Geotechnical Engineer (Salary Exempt)The civil/geotechnical engineer will be an experienced engineer experienced in geotechnical and confidently able to provide various soil parameters and make recommendations for footings and foundations for a variety of commercial sites and communicate effectively with our team of Engineers, Geologists and Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Responsible for reviewing, signing and stamping reports, plans and drawings related to Civil and Geotechnical Engineering projects. 2. Geotechnical work required in field and lab, which included the ability to provide the following soil parameters: a) Modulus of Elasticity b) Strain/Shear c) Cohesion d) Friction Angle e) Bearing Capacity f) Active/Passive Earth Pressures g) Young's Modulus h) Seismic Parameters i) Poisson's Ratio j) Percolation Rate k) Shear Modulus 3. Provide geotechnical recommendations for footings and foundations for single and multi-story multistory structures, Piles and Piers, OSHA trenching requirements, expansive soils, cohesionless soils, Liquifaction Potential, Modulus of Subgrade Reaction and Retaining Walls. 4. Train laboratory staff in geotechnical procedures. 5. Collaborate with other departments in order to complete projects by required deadlines. 6. Answer technical questions from staff and clients. roadways, runways, utilities, communications towers and oilfield/industrial sites 7. Determines best course of action in the completion of assignments in assigned area including setting priorities. 8. Performs special assignments as requested. 9. Performs technical or related work as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE and TRAINING: 1. A minimum of 10 years experience and Professional Engineering licenses in NM and TX is preferred; or ability to obtain within 6 months. 2. Project management and communication skills a must. Experience with ACAD Civil 3D, Rockworks 16, AllPile, GAEA WinLog required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products, LPile Parameters and MFAD a plus. All other requirements for employment with Pettigrew will apply.
