Job Description

The Semiconductor Business Unit provides solutions in pathfinding, yield learning, and failure analysis of semiconductor processes and manufacturing. Our broad range of high-performance microscopy workflows provides critical data at the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in semiconductor technology, the team is dedicated to discovery. Our employees work with companies on the forefront of semiconductor innovation as they develop and characterize the processes that will lead to the technologies of tomorrow.

The Mission

The Semiconductor Field Applications Team offers technical expertise to leading semiconductor companies. The Applications Manager will support the North America applications team in their interactions with customers, guiding them in developing innovative solutions for the semiconductor and related industries.

Key Results are:

  • Assisting customer engineers with integrating our products into their lab and fab workflows for failure analysis, characterization, and metrology.

  • Application development and training to ensure that users can extract the full value of our technology and achieve the best possible results.

  • Collaborative development of new processes and applications as customer technologies and requirements evolve.

How you will make an impact

Your expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and Thermo Fisher technology will be key as you lead applications engineers, support customer engagements, and coordinate with account and product teams.

What you will do:

  • Guide the development of innovative solutions to customer challenges to grow the business and ensure customer happiness.

  • Energize and challenge the team, provide career development opportunities, and keep the team dedicated to innovation and growth.

  • Develop strong working relationships with internal and external partners (product teams, engineering, s/w, marketing, sales, and our customers).

  • Provide detailed technical feedback to the business unit on customer needs and product performance in the field.

  • Coordinate support for tool acceptance and new product introductions with the customer and with the product and service teams.

How will you get here?

We are looking for a skilled technologist with leadership abilities and a passion for innovation to lead our team of engineers in a customer-facing role. The ideal candidate will have the necessary education and experience.

  • A university degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience Managing/Developing a technical team.

  • Knowledge of failure analysis processes in the semiconductor or related industries.

  • Attention to detail, a focus on innovation, and the pursuit of continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and to support the technical and commercial sides of an organization.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to forge positive relationships with customers.

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 25%), and possession of a valid passport.
