Job Description

Platform Security Engineering (PSE) is a small, high output team in the Software and Advanced Technology Group. Our team invents next generation "AI for Security" solutions to detect cyber threats using Intel CPU features and machine learning techniques http://www.intel.com/tdt . Solutions developed by our team have been deployed in over a Billion systems.

We are seeking a motivated AI Research Scientist to conduct research and develop innovative, AI-driven products delivered by our industry-leading partners! The candidate will collaborate with other team members and our partners to solve real-world challenges such as cyber threat detection and other novel problems on emerging Intel platforms.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Research, implement, tune, and sustain ML-based solutions to detect unwanted behaviors that indicate possible cyber-attacks.

  • Update existing models for drift/increased scope.

  • Implement practical modeling enhancements for existing AI models and ML processes.

  • Research green field/novel AI technologies and ideas for new products.

  • Build classical and neural network-based models from scratch (CNN, BERT, Transformers, XGBoost, K-Means, etc.).

  • Collaborate with both engineering and data science team members.

  • Prepare and present technical reports on research and/or modeling results.

  • Highly motivated self-starter.

  • Effective team player with a continuous learning mindset.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate must have have an Master's Degree in the field of Data Science, Mathematics, Informatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related areas and 4+ years of experience -OR- a PhD degree in the field of Data Science, Mathematics, Informatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related areas and 2+ years of experience in:

  • ML/AI

  • Designing custom model architecture(s) to solve novel problems.

  • Surveying academic literature and applying it to real-world/business problems

  • Feature Engineering, post classification time series, and other fine tuning.

  • Root cause analysis of unexpected experimental results.

  • Developing problem-specific AI characterization and quality metrics.

  • Deep understanding of AI theory and Data Science principles.

  • Visualization techniques, dimension reduction (PCA, autoencoders, t-SNE, etc).

  • Python programming and common statistical and ML libraries (both classical and deep learning, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, sklearn, XGBoost, etc.)

  • Machine learning, statistics, and math.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, etc.).

  • Experience building/tuning AI models at production scale.

  • Time spent working in or studying software engineering, especially optimizing the performance of AI algorithms.

  • Working experiences in cyber security, malware analysis, and detection.

  • Operating Systems, C/C++ programming, and data structures, CPU architectures.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $186,552.00-$279,772.00

*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
