Student Support Coordinator/Deputy Title IX Coordinator

Classification Summary:

The Student Support Coordinator/Deputy Title IX Coordinator serves as the lead non-clinical, case manager for the Colleges Care Team and serves as a designee for the Title IX Coordinator with regard to student support. As the lead non-clinical case manager, this position will promote student success and retention; reduce risk; and enhance overall community well-being and safety by identifying needs, removing barriers, leveraging resources, and fostering self-efficacy for students experiencing physical, emotional, academic, and/or psychological difficulties. As the Title IX/Compliance Coordinator designee/deputy, this position will provide individualized support to students who are pregnant or have a pregnancy related condition as well as perform a preliminary review of reports of discrimination or harassment involving students.

Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience:

Masters Degree in related field and two years of related experience or Bachelors degree in related field and minimum of four years of related experience.

Provide professional support to students, alumni, and community members in employment, behavior concerns, disabilities support, or other assigned area(s). (C4) Collect and interpret student statistics and reports of assigned area(s) (academic, disability, behavioral concerns, etc.) by determining data collection methods, interpretation methods, reporting methods, and communication methods. (C4) Communicate with faculty members to support respective department goals, including providing resources and assistance; assist with employee development; and develop internship and job opportunities. (C4) Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to identify, define, and create opportunities and resources for students. Prepare and distribute resources to students, alumni, and community members; regularly review resources to ensure information remains current and accessible. (C4) Oversee the daily operation of assigned Student Services area(s) by determining daily tasks and delegating appropriate responsibilities. (B2) Plan and facilitate all aspects of events, workshops, and/or hearings. (C4) Maintain knowledge of assigned student service area(s), including industry trends, regulations, and external resources; communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders. (B2) Meet with students, boards, and groups to discuss and/or identify current/potential issues to include potential resolutions. (C4) Perform general communication duties such as maintaining college webpages and social media sites with information related to assigned area(s). (B2) Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Position Duties:

Oversee non-clinical case management for the Care Team. Process and assess all referrals and walk-in appointments for immediate needs, including crisis intervention and safety planning. Participate in information gathering, risk assessment, and intervention deployment by providing services such as intake appointments, follow-up appointments, referral coordination, consultation, and collaboration with student supports. Ensure appropriate and complete records are maintained in the student record keeping database. Conduct holistic wellness assessments utilizing student intake survey data, Vikings Heads Up, Academic Early Alerts, How Are You Doing?, Care Team, and Discrimination/Harassment (including VAWA and Title IX) reports to provide proactive support for a diverse student population who may be experiencing difficulties or barriers related to personal, emotional, medical, or academic challenges including, but not limited to, healthcare, immediate hunger, long-term access to food, hygiene, homelessness, transportation, employment, medical debt, addiction recovery, a d rent/utilities assistance. Provide referral options and connect students to both on campus and off campus resources. Address any barriers (financial, transportation, stigma, etc.) the student faces in accessing the resources. Provide a framework for good self-care and self-advocacy, and follow up on the success of the connection and initiate specific follow-up actions. Consult and collaborate with other individuals who are involved in supporting students, in line with FERPA and other confidentiality/privacy standards. Perform case reviews with other case managers to assess ongoing risk and the ongoing strengths and needs of their students. Provide appropriate training and supervision to graduate trainees and/or contracted support, when applicable. Serve as the primary designee for students experiencing current, potential, or past pregnancy or related conditions. Ensure the campus community is aware of rights/options for students who are experiencing pregnancy or related conditions, including reporting options and requirements. Coordinate specific actions, including training, to prevent sex discrimination and ensure the student's equal access to the College's education program or activity. Consult with referred students to complete an individualized needs assessment. Coordinate student's acceptance or decline of each modification. Facilitate implementation of reasonable modifications to policies, practices, or procedures. Under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, ensure the College's prompt, equitable, fair, impartial, and thorough response to reports of discrimination and harassment involving students. Triage incoming reports, including reviewing for Clery/VAWA implications, determine immediate needs and/or safety concerns, promptly respond to complaints (including reports of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking) to help parties understand their rights and options, implement and/or coordinate implementation of rights and options, offer and coordinate supportive measures for involved parties, and notify parties of applicable grievance procedures and informal resolution processes. Ensure appropriate documentation of all response steps. Assist the Title IX/Compliance Coordinator and/or Conduct Coordinator with evaluating known information for the Coordinator to determine dismissal, investigation, or referral to other applicable policies/procedures. Provide and/or oversee ongoing accommodations and support during the resolution process. Facilitate informal resolution processes that are compliant with Title IX/VAWA, College policies and procedures, and other applicable federal and state regulations. Informal resolutions may include, but are not limited to, mediation, facilitated dialogue, conflict coaching, educational conversation, and restorative justice and resolution by agreement of the parties. Collect and report data in end of year/annual reports. Analyze referral and case data to evaluate barriers to reporting, existing trends, presenting issues, and/or anticipated trends in order to make appropriate adjustments to the program's services. Review and update operating manual(s) annually. Identify areas for improvement/strategically plan for the upcoming year. Collaborate with appropriate staff and/or committees on the development and implementation of a strategic plan for preventing and decreasing harmful behaviors with regards to bystander intervention, alcohol and other drug abuse prevention, sexual misconduct prevention, student well-being, crisis intervention, support services, and safety training topics.
