Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Lead and/or direct engineering resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment. Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Maintenance activities including Breakdown, Predictive and Preventative, CMMS, and Project Maintenance to ensure proper coverage, minimize downtime, and ensure proper training and tools.

  • Manage MESD activities and deliverables. Work with Technology and other customers to ensure prioritization is understood. Guide efforts of training, equipment capability, and reliability.

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.

  • Prioritize daily work.

  • Analyzes the cause of equipment breakdowns and works with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime issues.

  • Develops Preventative and Reliability maintenance programs with leading metrics.

  • Works with project teams to identify maintenance requirements.

  • Consistently executes key deliverables and project plans in support of machine availability.

  • Leads and directs maintenance team.

  • Develops cross-training and development for all team members.

  • Frequently interacts with other plant/peer functional groups and outside contractors to achieve plant goals.

  • GEM team engagement to drive Energy and Water conservation efforts.

  • Able to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.

  • Encompasses the application of scientific and technological principles to preserve or keep the operation of machines, equipment, and systems in proper condition in an industrial environment.

Experience & Education

  • 4-year degree, Technical Field Preferred

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance or facilities

  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Proven project management capability

  • Ability to analyze data to drive decisions

  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools and documentation systems

Desired Education & Skills

  • Knowledge or usage of Maximo or similar CMMS application

  • Experience with improving preventative and predictive maintenance

  • Hands on experience with industrial equipment, especially maintenance procedures

  • Familiar with machining equipment, tooling and processes

  • Familiar with PowerBI or other data analysis tools

The range for this position is $115,261.00 - $158,484.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
