TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE
Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in
the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Temporary Employees are responsible for providing support to various departments within the municipality for a
maximum of 8 months at a time and must reapply each season. Temporary Employees will assist with various
tasks such as landscaping, park maintenance, street maintenance, waste collection, and other related duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of Division Head for which department they are assigned to, but acts as
governed by state and city code, city resolutions, and general direction provided by City Council, Association of
Idaho Cities, and ICRMP.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or
may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs
and changing business practices.
Assist with landscaping and park maintenance activities, including mowing, pruning, planting, watering, and
weeding.
Assist with street maintenance activities, including sweeping, repairing potholes, painting road markings, flagging,
and cleaning gutters.
Assist with the maintenance of municipal facilities, including cleaning and minor repairs.
Provide support for special events and activities organized by the municipality, including setup and takedown,
traffic control, and assisting with crowd management.
Operate various types of equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and power tools, in a safe and
efficient manner.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a
safe working environment.
Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a
short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Knowledge of:
Accepted safety practices and procedures.
Ability to:
Participate in and complete safety training courses.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Possess communication and interpersonal skills.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely
provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would
be:
Education/Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience in landscaping, construction, or related field is an asset but not required.
License or Certificate:
Valid Idaho Drivers License and reliable transportation.

Physical: Sufficient physical ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs; standing and walking for prolonged

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and
printed documents and to operate equipment.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
