JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Research Nurse. The nurse in this role will deliver education to long term care staff, on a variety of geriatric topics specific to long term care communities. Some examples include dementia and related behaviors, wound care, diabetes management, and falls. Travel up to 2-3 days per week to long term care facilities in South Central PA to deliver education, will be required as part of this role. The nurse educator will work collaboratively with the grant team and Geriatric Medicine faculty to update and create educational content. In addition, the nurse will:

  • Travel to and delivery education to long term care staff in the South-Central RISE region (Adams, Blair, Bedford, Dauphin, Cumberland, Franklin, Lebanon, Juniata, Perry, Huntingdon, Mifflin, York).

  • Schedule new facility training

  • Update educational content and create new content in collaboration with the grant team and Geriatric Medicine faculty.

  • Facilitate survey long term care staff survey completion as part of training.

  • Attend Weekly meetings

The person in this role will have basic knowledge in care of older adults, including skills working with individuals living with dementia, approaches to reduce risk of falls in older adults and basic approach to reducing pressure injury. The person in this role will also have a general understanding of the care delivered in long term care settings.

This nurse will receive referrals for training, but otherwise will manage their schedule in collaboration with their 2 nurse colleagues and grant team partners but will largely be self-directed in both scheduling and training.

This position requires a bachelor's degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$68,200.00 - $102,300.00
