JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Innovation and the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI) within the Office of the Dean at The Penn State College of Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking qualified applicants for the Associate Innovation Project Manager position.

Primary responsibilities include: supporting Senior Innovation Project Managers in managing a portfolio of high-potential innovations by supporting the development of commercialization pathways, working alongside researchers, clinicians, projects teams, and technology licensing officers where you will assist in formulating a strategy to achieve follow-on funding, attract management, and ultimately transfer the technology to society through licensing or startup creation; support gap funding programs available through internal and external sources to accelerate and de-risk high-potential technology projects towards commercialization either via a startup or industry license; support the development of an entrepreneurial culture within the College of Medicine and Penn State Health by assisting with coaching and mentorship to project teams that include technology commercialization plans, regulatory pathways, reimbursement models, and funding strategies; facilitate relationships between faculty and industry partners to develop and derisk translational research by supporting research presentation and breaking down communication barriers between academia and industry; prepare materials and assist with program coordination of innovation training seminars, education programs, and workshops; and other duties as defined.

The Center for Medical Innovation is a service-oriented organization within the Penn State system and the local community to deliver economic and social value from Penn State Medical Innovation.

The Center supports the research enterprise at the College of Medicine and related college efforts impacting health, develops and deploys valuable research to impact human health, works with a collaborative team to maximize the value of Penn State intellectual property, and creates a positive impact on the economic development and social well-being of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

This job will be filled as a Level 1 or 2, dependent on qualifications. Level 1 typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in a business or technical discipline plus two (+) years of related experience or equivalent education and experience. Level 2 typically requires a Master’s degree or higher in a business or technical discipline plus two (+) years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.

A technical background in biomedical/life sciences with business education, experience, and a working knowledge of commercialization strategies is desirable.

The candidate should have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, must demonstrate effectiveness in understanding and presenting business/scientific information, ability to effectively communicate technical information to a range of customers, strong management skills, attention to detail, self-motivated and assertive with the ability to work independently in a

team environment and can establish priorities.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,988.00 - $91,812.00
