Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Technical Curriculum Developer to create exam preparation digital courses.

The Exam Preparation team is part of the AWS digital training business, creating content for AWS Skill Builder. We use the Amazon working backwards process to build innovative learning experiences. Our global customers are Enterprises, Partners, SMBs, Startups, and individual learners. To meet our customer needs we are creating exam preparation products that deliver impactful, hands-on learning experiences. We are looking for innovative ways to help our customers to successfully prepare for AWS Certification exams. Exam Preparation digital courses are highly technical digital learning courses that can be accessed 24x7 with self-paced labs. This role gives the opportunity to learn, to teach, and to play at the same time as you develop training.

Our Technical Curriculum Developers will have excellent writing skills, a healthy technical domain expertise, and the ability to translate technical processes into easy-to-understand activities/simulations. Additionally, our ideal candidates will have experience developing/delivering training and above all, a passion for learning.

In this role, you will work with the Sr. Technical Curriculum Developer, Program Management, Product Management, Video Production, Technical Lab Development, and subject matter experts from across AWS, developing content and presenting it in studio and live on camera.

This position is open to candidates located near AWS offices in Seattle, Herndon, and Washington, DC.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in either (Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology (IT) services or similar technical Bachelor degree) or 4+yrs. relevant work experience developing technical training for the technical industry required.

  • 3+ yrs. demonstrated experience designing and developing IT or technical training materials and content to include creating instructor-led materials, online/e-learning modules, job aids, online tutorials, knowledge assessments and other training materials.

  • 3+ yrs. domain expertise in one or more of the following: Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Contact Centers, End User Computing (virtual desktop infrastructure), Game Tech, Security, IoT, Media, General Cloud Technology, Solutions Architecting, Application Development, DevOps, Databases, and/or System Operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience architecting and operating solutions on Amazon Web Services

  • 3+ years experience deploying and developing applications on AWS

  • Current Cloud Certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Developer) or 6+ years hands-on in a cloud driven environment.

  • 2+ yrs. experience delivering content live on-camera or in a studio setting.

  • Knowledge and/or hands-on experience with AWS services highly desired.

  • Ability to write and edit content for the purpose of knowledge transfer and skill development; this includes skill in collaborating with subject matter experts to develop technical content.

  • Proven experience collaborating with global stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Ability to apply adult learning principles and incorporate this into curriculum design and development.

  • Scripting and coding skills (Examples include but are not limited to: Java (OR) Python (OR) NodeJS (OR) JavaScript (OR) Powershell (OR) Bash).

  • 2+ yrs. demonstrated working knowledge of eLearning development tools such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, or Camtasia.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
