ManTech Senior Systems Administrator in Herndon, Virginia

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Administrator to join our team in the DC Metro Area.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage AWS Cloud Infrastructure: Stand up, configure, and manage EC2 instances, EKS, RDS, and Lambda functions to ensure robust and scalable cloud solutions.

  • Oversee S3 Storage Management: Efficiently manage S3 storage to ensure data integrity, availability, and security, which is crucial for maintaining operational continuity.

  • Configure Networking and Security Settings: Implement and manage security groups, ensuring secure and efficient network configurations to protect sensitive data and maintain compliance with security standards.

  • Optimize Cloud Resources: Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization to achieve cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly identify and resolve infrastructure issues to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability.

  • Manage and Maintain IT Systems: Ensure the continuous and efficient operation of IT systems, including servers, networks, and applications, to support organizational needs.

  • Implement Security Measures: Deploy and manage security protocols to protect sensitive data and systems, aligning with national security standards. Understand and apply basics of identity access management to control user access and enhance system security.

  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Provide timely resolution of system issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

  • Support System Upgrades: Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Monitor System Performance: Regularly monitor system performance and take proactive steps to address potential issues, ensuring optimal performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in System Administration with a proven track record in managing IT systems.

  • Experience with AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS, and Lambda.

  • Proficiency in managing S3 storage and configuring networking and security settings such as security groups.

  • Basic understanding of identity access management principles.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator).

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform).

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices.

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a government or defense contracting environment.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess a current and active TS/SCI with Poly

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time

  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and clients, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
