Role Summary:

Mobility is a constantly changing area of the automotive industry and of the VW Group, thus VCI’s mobility strategy will continuously evolve. The Mobility Fleet Ops Lead has the unique opportunity to join the rapidly growing Mobility team at VCI focused on building customer-centric Vehicle-as-a-Service and Mobility-as-a-Service solutions. This position will be the heartbeat of the program and will have the overall responsibility of managing vehicle and fleet operations of VCI’s mobility services. This individual will be responsible for establishing, organizing, and managing the processes for vehicle acquisition, assignment, logistics, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and remarketing. This individual will report to and closely collaborate with the Mobility Product Manager to establish critical operational processes, ensure continuous improvement, and drive the overall development of the program.

Role Responsibilities:

Fleet Management & Operations – 60% of time 

  • Closely collaborate and negotiate with VW Group Brands and Corporate Vehicle Services to acquire vehicles for mobility services products.

  • Ensure vehicle readiness by assigning vehicles to specific markets and/or dealerships and work with the remarketing team and third parties to manage efficient distribution and delivery of vehicles to their assigned destination, including the resolution of delivery or logistics issues.

  • Ensure fair distribution of vehicles across markets based on customer demand, vehicle utilization, and partner performance.

  • Coordinate with participating dealers and internal departments to title, tag, and register program vehicles once in-fleeted into the program.

  • Leverage partner-provided mobility SaaS platform to interact and manage fleet of vehicles.

  • Add newly acquired vehicles to mobility fleet within the platform with detailed vehicle information: (e.g. VIN, make, model, MY, trim, color, location, features, etc.) and ensure proper visibility to customers.

  • Develop and coordinate vehicle service, maintenance, and repair processes with dealers including: billing, reimbursements, scheduling, etc.

  • Monitor vehicle telematics data and derive specific actions based on vehicle mileage, health, age, etc.

  • Coordinate and manage back-end insurance processes and claims for program vehicles.

  • Develop and manage vehicle repossession process and collaborate with third party companies to reacquire vehicles.

  • Actively monitor and manage fleet utilization and allocate/retire vehicles within the program based on defined thresholds to maximize residual value.

  • Define overall mobility vehicle remarketing process and collaborate with the remarketing team to remarket retired vehicles through defined channels.

Operations Strategy & Development –30% of time 

  • Closely and consistently collaborate with the Mobility Product Manager, internal stakeholders, and external third parties to develop and establish mobility services operations and processes and support upcoming initiatives, objectives, and outcomes.

  • Establish process standards, stakeholders, and roles and responsibilities via RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) model.

  • Constantly look for, identify, and collaboratively execute process and system optimization opportunities.

  • Develop specific vehicle eligibility criteria, analyze available fleet, and source vehicles based on prioritized metrics.

  • Evaluate customer, program, and market trends to optimize and adapt vehicle criteria, assignment, and distribution strategies.

  • Develop approach and ensure steady flow of vehicles to meet customer demand while minimizing risk and associated costs.

Reporting and Communication – 10% of time 

  • Define critical KPIs and develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly program and fleet performance reports.

  • Assist Mobility Product Manager with all Steering Committee, NAR Executive Leadership Team and Sponsor communications.

  • Deliver executive level reporting, data visualization and insight generation as required and appropriate to support progress on strategic initiatives and Operational Excellence.



Qualifications



Experience:
Required
  • 5+ years of experience

  • 3+ years of experience within the automotive industry

  • 2+ years of experience in vehicle operations, fleet management, remarketing, logistics, and strategic planning

  • Experience with mobility services, preferred (e.g. vehicle subscriptions, rental, leasing)

Education:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience

Desired
  • Technical or advanced degree in Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, or Management

General Skills:
  • Blend of creativity, tactical thinking, analytic reasoning, a love of data, and interest in the auto industry

  • Versatility to flex across multiple topics and comfort working in ambiguous situations

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal) and sharp business acumen

  • Ability to establish/manage collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders across the organization to influence strategic partnering

  • Capability to break down major issues and problems into workable pieces; see the whole situation behind a problem or issue; able to understand causes, effects and implications

  • Strong implementation, project management, and troubleshooting skills

  • Proficiency in the use of software, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Specialized Skills:
Required
  • Proven experience in managing vehicle fleets, operations, processes and demonstrated understanding of vehicle logistics, remarketing and sales planning

  • Competency in understanding and optimizing fleet utilization

  • Ability to actively manage and collaborate with several internal and external stakeholders to drive actions and desirable outcomes

  • Familiarity with fleet management software

  • Knowledge of industry best practices

Desired
  • Experience with new consumer and/or commercial-facing mobility concepts (e.g., vehicle subscriptions, bike and scooter sharing, fleet management services)

Work Flexibility:
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
