Job Summary:

We are seeking a senior level Java Developer with a strong background in Object Oriented web development for a transformation project into Spring.  This role will be to serve as a senior developer as we modernize a collection of Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) systems from Struts/COBOL into Spring Boot.  These systems are written legacy Java frameworks such as Struts v1 and JBoss Seam.  The client is located in Indianapolis, Indiana but the majority of the work will be remote. Approximately 10% travel to Indianapolis expected.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops Technical Approaches to complex coding challenges.

  • Rapidly develops remediated screens using those technical approaches.

  • Assists more junior deverlopers in understanding a technical approach.

  • Ensure that the legacy applications remain in a steady state of audit readiness through development, testing, validation, and controls by submitting required artifacts showing evidence of technical design, unit test results, technical peer reviews, and final handoffs to user acceptance testing.

  • Reports to the Team Project Manager

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of Object Oriented (OO) software development experience

  • Ten (10) years Agile experience

  • Seven (7) years of web development experience using Java.

  • Three (3) years of experience in Spring including at least two production system conversions to Spring

  • An active DoD SECRET clearance that has been used within two years is required. A Single Source Background Investigation at Tier III may be performed by DFAS if necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline

  • Ability to interpret COBOL code to find existing business rules.

  • Ability to follow legacy Struts code to find program flow.
