Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Police Officer (Direct Hiring Authority) in Herlong Sierra Ordnance Depot, California

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Police Staff may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on various situations. Responsibilities Monitors Security Communications Systems such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV); Intrusion Detection's System (IDS); and telephone/radio systems. Recommends to the supervisor and director, changes in the organization of work or assignment of functions in order to improve workflow and service coverage, promote job satisfactions, and increase productivity. Serves as police officer on installation with conventional ammunition, supply and maintenance mission, and general supply mission. Patrols assigned areas on depot to detect, apprehend, arrest or cite offenders of federal or state laws or violation of a regulation. Conducts security patrols in industrial and storage areas to enforce security regulations, plans, and policies. Dispatches police, fire and emergency units to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Police Officers under Direct Hire Authority for Shortage Category/Critical Need to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Category rating, veteran's preference, and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do NOT apply for this vacancy. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Note: Each grade has different qualifications, which must be met in order to be considered for that grade. Specialized Experience at the GS-06 level: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Maintaining order and protecting life; (2) Responding to citizens in emergency/non-emergency situations; and (3) Protecting of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience at the GS-07 level: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Enforcing criminal laws; (2) Conducting search and investigation operations; and (3) Preparing a variety of reports such as sworn statements, and affidavits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). In addition to the qualification above, to qualify for/progress to the GS-7 level you will need the following certifications: Successful completion of the US Army Civilian Police Academy. NOTE: Certification must be submitted with application. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
