The Salvation Army Assistant Basketball Coach in Hempstead, New York
Overview
To build and strengthen the character of Jr. and Sr. High School students through recreation (basketball).
Responsibilities
Teach the students how to play/respect the game of basketball, enforcing the rules
Responsible for developing and running a 2-hour basketball program 1-2 times a week
for youth ages 12-19
Responsible for developing and running a 2-hour basketball program once a week for youth ages 7-11
Responsible for collecting the stats for the Corps Officer on a monthly basis
Responsible for the cleanliness of the gymnasium, hallways, and restroom facilities throughout the Corps building
Notify the Youth Assistant of any issues
Report to the Youth Assistant any problems, injuries, or incidents involving the property, program and/or the participants
The Assistant Basketball Coach reports directly to the Youth assistant regarding all youth and family recreation related issues
The Assistant Basketball Coach is responsible for maintaining a safe and structured environment.

Qualifications
High School Diploma and/or experience with basketball coaching
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Attention to detail
Problem solving and assessment with the ability to multitask
Work as a team player as well as independently
Good organizational skills, writing skills and communication skills are a must
Has respect and consideration for the people being served
