The Role

Next Games, a Netflix Game Studio, is a Helsinki-based studio dedicated to crafting fans-first interactive experiences that combine the stories from popular movies and shows with engaging game mechanics. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our studio in Helsinki. This role offers an opportunity to work with local game teams and international analytics and engineering teams to create the next success stories in gaming.

Together with other skilled members of the team, you will get to work on our data pipelines, infrastructure and tools. Supporting our analysts and enabling direct insights and feedback to game teams. You will be building low-latency streaming pipelines and exploring new ways to use data directly in our games. With our data team, you will have one of the world's most solid tech stacks at Netflix in your toolbelt.

You are curious about what’s new and how things could work, and you have a drive for exceeding your own limits and improving yourself and the team. You are proactive and take pride in building robust and maintainable infrastructure. You’re not happy with maintaining what’s there, and actively look towards improving the experience for our analysts, scientists, designers and of course our players.

At Next Games, you get to work on challenging technical tasks and modern cloud technologies. Our team is relatively small, which means that we have very little bureaucracy and that you have the opportunity to take on a wide variety of tasks.

Responsibilities

· Develop, design and maintain our in-house data platform to support the needs of our Game Analysts

· Work closely with global Netflix teams to integrate our existing tools and provide new opportunities to make games only Netflix can make

· Collaborate with our Data Analysts to ensure efficient and privacy compliant storage and use of our data

· Create tools that allow direct and actionable data insights for our game developers, PX agents, designers and everyone involved in making great games for our players!

Experience

· Proficient with modern Java, or a similar language (Scala, Kotlin, C#, Rust, Go)

· Experience with Python, particularly in the form of data-focused tools (Numpy, Pandas)

· Proficient with SQL

· Knowledgeable on programmatic data processing workflows and distributed systems (Spark, Beam, Flink)

· Experience with different databases and schema modeling for modern data warehousing.

· Great troubleshooting and communication skills

· Experience with modern software development (DevOps, CI/CD, Cloud Computing)

· Fluency in English
