State of Montana Water Quality Monitoring Technician in Helena, Montana

We are looking for seasonal Water Quality Monitoring Technicians to join our team. The Monitoring Technicians are responsible for assisting pre-field work, such as calibration and maintenance of devices, inventory and requisition of field season equipment, and distribution of equipment to project leads; field work, such as assisting in various chemical, biological and physical sampling procedures; and non-field work efforts such as data entry, transporting samples, and gathering supplies. The Monitoring Technicians must be able to work long days in varying and sometimes unfavorable weather conditions, share driving responsibilities and drive long distances, maintain project budget, and assist in decision-making in regard to usage of resources. In addition, the Monitoring Technicians must be able to hike, carrying up to 40 lbs of sampling equipment, be comfortable in wilderness settings, with special consideration to safety, communicate effectively, and maintain personal gear. Minimum requirements include at least one field season of relevant environmental monitoring and at least two years of science focused higher education. Applicants must be available and work from Helena from May-Oct of 2021. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
