Join the Construction and Facilities Management Office at the Department of Military Affairs as a level 3 HVAC Technician! /The Facilities Management Branch/Bureau is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of approximately 2,000,000 square feet of Federal and State owned facilities used primarily by the Montana Army National Guard statewide./ The HVAC Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems and components. This position reports to the Mechanical and Electrical Foreman; coordinates with and provides assistance to other DMA trade employees and federal employees in performance of their duties. This position is relied upon to provide technical guidance to others regarding HVAC and refrigeration issues. * Monitor HVAC and refrigeration operations and perform system and component maintenance; troubleshoot, diagnose and repair malfunctions. * Provide input in the design of new HVAC systems and evaluate and inspect new construction of HVAC systems. * Perform various administrative tasks in support of the Facility Maintenance Office. * Must have demonstrated ability to work with and engage in diverse working environments within and outside the Department of Military Affairs. Education: High school degree or GED and completion of sufficient vocational training and experience in HVAC to attain journey level certification. Experience:Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in maintaining and repairing large scale (commercial, industrial) HVAC systems including experience in refrigeration. Trade Knowledge:Requires knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, including pneumatic and digital control systems and operations; NGB and government temperature mandates, Hazardous Materials Abatement, and Uniform Building Code; and general knowledge of electrical circuits and their components, plumbing systems, carpentry, and construction. Requires skill in use of computers and computer software; safely and effectively operating power tools, maintenance equipment, and industrial chemicals; reading and interpreting blue prints, plans, and sketches; interpreting manufacturers’ instructions and schematics; and the ability to look up items from a code book, technical instructions, or manufacturer data and interpret technical components. Requires skill in problem solving and analysis of needed repairs to determine proper course of action taking into consideration economical and safety components of needed repair. Requires verbal and written communications skills, ability to prioritize and use time management to address emerging needs across a large geographic area. Special Requirements Certification or Licensing Required:Driver’s license, License in HVAC and EPA certification to handle refrigerants.
