State of Montana Human Services Executive Director in Helena, Montana

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Director’s Office. DPHHS operations are organized into functional areas under the Office of the Director. Each area is headed by an executive who leads and directs programmatic operations and coordinates objectives and outcomes as part of an executive team. The Human Services Executive Director oversees the delivery of a broad range of social and public health services to communities in Montana. This position directs and coordinates programs and activities of the Early Childhood and Family Support, Human and Community Services, Child and Family Services, Child Support Services, and Disability Employment and Transition Services divisions. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * * * Knowledge of governmental structure, functions, programs, and organizational relationships and the laws, rules, and regulations that govern the operation of health programs in the State of Montana. * Knowledge of public administration including the legislative process and management of programs with statewide impact. * Knowledge of federal funding streams, regulations, and policies related to health and human services programs. * Leadership ability. * Ability to manage multiple and competing high-profile, sensitive, or controversial issues. * Ability to direct and coordinate human services program operations and management. * Ability to build effective networks of governmental relations that support programs administered. * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in health administration, political science, business; or a closely related field of study. o Advanced degree preferred in business administration, public administration, or related fields of study. o Five years of job-related work experience in policy, law, personnel management, fiscal management, and program planning and evaluation. o Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered. Preferred Qualifications (Experience): * 3-5 years prior executive-level leadership in one or more of the practice areas supervised. * 3-5 years prior executive-level leadership in a large, complex public organization, such as other state human services departments. * Working knowledge of the complex federal funding streams for human services practice delivery, such as SNAP, TANF, Title IV-E, Vocational Rehabilitation, and CCDF block grant funding. * * * * How to Apply To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
