State of Montana Grants Accountant in Helena, Montana

The Grants Accountant serves in the financial arm of MBCC. In this capacity, you will have the opportunity to manage a variety of grants from federal and state sources for distribution to a wide range of grantees involving several programs such as victim services and public safety. The Grants Accountant will be responsible for duties such as: * Providing professional level analysis of financial information; * Preparing financial reports to determine and maintain a record of expenses, revenues, funds and other financial activities withing the agency; * Setting up financial structures for grants; * Reviewing, monitoring and auditing grantees for federal and state fiscal compliance; * Preparation of grant budgets and special reports; and * Summarizing reports for Board consideration of grant requests. Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business; AND * Substantive experience in accounting and fiscal management. OR * Alternate forms of education/experience considered on a case-by-case basis Preference will be given to candidates with specific experience: * Administering public sector grants; and/or * Utilizing several SABHRS Finance modules. Competencies: /Knowledge of, or Ability to Learn:/ * Principles of GAAP and GASB as they apply to MBCC’s business requirements; * Public sector grant administration requirements; and * Applicable state and federal policies and laws. /Ability to:/ * Operate within automated accounting and financial software; * Work within Excel at an expert level and other MS Office software at a competent level; * Demonstrate consistent accuracy and attention to detail; * Pivot between and prioritize a variety of self-managed tasks; * Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and other business groups; and * Identify and resolve problems within assigned areas of responsibility Does this sound like a fit for you? * Please tell us how and why by submitting your resume and cover letter.
