HELENA COLLEGE - UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA Director Library Learning Hub in HELENA, Montana

Helena College is seeking qualified applicants who wish to become part of a dynamic and creative team for a full-time position as a Director Library Learning Hub. The Director of the Library Learning Hub position, which reports directly to the Executive Director of General Education and Transfer, is responsible for all facets of the library program, including strategic planning, annual planning, budgeting, assessment, collection development and maintenance, facilities planning, service delivery, programming, reference desk coverage, and library instruction. The Director is also responsible for academic support services, which includes tutoring and academic coaching. This is a supervisory position that operates with minimal supervision and is independently responsible for the direction and coordination of an institutional program. The position requires a high degree of initiative and a breadth of professional knowledge with sufficient depth on all aspects of library operation. The mission of the Helena College Library Learning Hub is to enable student success in the programs and degrees offered at the college. Duties and Responsibilities Administrative - Official representative for library services and the library learning hub department for the College. - Train, guide, assign, supervise, and evaluate all library learning hub staff. - Develop and assess library learning hub annual and long-range program goals and services in support of the institutional mission. - Develop and implement library learning hub policies and procedures. - Develop and administer assigned budget allocation. - Provide and support opportunities for in-service and professional development for library learning hub staff. - Assess library learning hub program and services based on program and institutional goals. - Conduct reporting activities and maintain all records required by the college, state, or federal agencies. Library Learning Hub - Supervise the selection and purchase of all library materials. - Organize the library collection following library standards, including cataloging and circulation procedures in the shared ExLibris Unified Resource Management tool. - Apply the principles of collection organization and access, including specific knowledge of bibliographic MARC record, OCLC Connexion interface, WorldCat, and the ExLibris Unified Resource Management tool to include Primo OneSearch and Alma. - Maintain database/electronic resources, including their selection, use, access, remote authentication, functionality, and licensing. - Supervise the cataloging and maintenance of databases in Alma. - Steward the collection through the circulation of library materials, annual inventories, weeding of outdated items, management of donations, and the collection of replacement fees. - Utilize standardized reporting conventions, IPEDS, and methods of electronic data collection. - Maintain convenient and reliable access to electronic resources and information through the college?s website. - Serve on college committees to coordinate library learning hub services responsive to instructional and student service programs. - Participate in professional activities to keep abreast of innovations and current trends. Instructional - Create a climate which invites the college community to utilize the collection and services of the library (exhibits, finding aids, ancillary services). - Provide reference and library instruction on an individual basis. - Provide instruction in library use, research, and information literacy to classes. - Collaborate with faculty to create and/or purchase materials and resources that aid instruction and student learning. - Aid college employees in research and their own continuing education. Community Relations - Maintain commun cation with other community libraries and the greater Montana University System libraries through the Montana Library Association and the Treasure State Academic Information & Library Services (TRAILS) consortium membership. - Enable deep collaboration amongst the TRAILS consortium of academic libraries. - Assist in public relations activities and events that impact the library and the college. - Provide access and borrowing privileges to community residents. - Provide representation on local, regional, and state boards/committees when appropriate. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Librarian and Academic Coach/Tutor Coordinator positions and all temporary and student hire positions. Minimum Qualifications - Master of Library Science or Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA accredited library program. - Minimum four years of experience working in a library setting. - Minimum one year of supervisory experience. Preferred - Experience working in higher education. - Experience working at a two-year college with both technical and transfer programs. - Experience working in the Montana University System. Benefit and Salary Information $63,000 annual salary.
