Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Keep close contact with Division Engineering and plant partners for timely communication and issue resolution.

  • Lead equipment continuous improvement about AGS process capability, maintain the stability and consistency of production.

  • New technology/improvement development that led the market and achieve Corning's low-cost/high-quality strategy.

  • Design, specify, install, debug new equipment/tooling or modify existing equipment to continuously improve system reliability and lower maintenance cost.

  • Provide analytical and problem-solving support and guidance to manufacturing when needed to ensure timeline and deliverables stay on track.

  • Report out the issues with professional data analysis and clear logical process.

  • Establish and update system SOS/PM/SOP as needed and ensure all procedures are properly written and followed.

  • Project management leadership of project with intermediate scope, include but not limited to project planning, resources, AR initiation, spending control, production scale up.

  • Develop partnerships with process/control teams for technology development & fundamental understanding.

  • Partner with plant engineering for effective implementation of process or process / controls changes.

  • Build effective relations and interactions with internal/external customers and stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • BS/MS degree or above in Mechanical, or Mechatronics.

  • Prefer following design abilities: Layout/component design and mechanism selection, Mechanical design of large-scale machine, independent design for large-scale automation projects.

  • 7+ years’ experience on the position of Mechanical Engineer.

  • Ability to independently create 2D and 3D drawings.

  • Experiences in working with and/or supervising project teams.

  • 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.

Required Skills

  • Ability to independently create 2D and 3D drawings (good command of MS Office, AutoCAD, Solid Works and ANSYS Workbench).

  • Mechanical design of large-scale machine, independent design for large-scale automation projects.

  • Rich experiences on automation design, successfully applied in factory or the market.

  • Have fundamental understanding about common mechanical mechanisms: motion mechanism design, fluid, motor, pump, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.

  • Know well mechanical design principle, dimension chain analysis, parts selection and so on.

  • Improve process capability with process/control engineers.

  • Use rigorous processes and data to solve problems. Uses a systematic approach to drive to root cause understanding of problems to assure validity of corrective actions.

  • Have cost reduction, yield improvement, capacity expansion and trouble-shooting experience.

  • Conviction and passion for safety, cleanliness, process control and process discipline.

  • Familiar with the standards of mechanical design and structural mechanics analysis.

  • Rich troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills of mechanical issues.

  • Has curiosity, loves to study, and the ability to continuously learn.

  • Used structured problem-solving methods such as DMAIC,KT,DOE lead problem solving and process improvement.

Desired Skills

  • Project management experience

  • Understanding of equipment mechanical operations and control

  • Understanding of DMAIC, Lean and Six-Sigma methods and tools

  • Good oral and written communication skill, including in English

  • Familiar with the electrical knowledge, e.g. PLC, Servo motor, VFD, Relay.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
