Intermountain Health Athletic Trainer Sports Medicine in Heber City, Utah

Job Description:

Under the direction of a Physician or Physical Therapist, the Athletic Trainer assists in the assessment and treatment of patients. May provide Certified Athletic Trainer services during practices and sporting events for high schools or other athletic teams.

  • Shift: M/W/Th 8-5 Friday 8-12 with Tuesday’s off. Depending on needs days off could move throughout the week but will coordinate with the Provider.

  • Department: Sports Medicine; Heber Valley Clinic with the opportunity to cover events at Soldier Hollow and Wasatch High School.

  • Additional Details: Assisting physician in daily clinic responsibilities include but are not limited to, rooming and communicating with patients, rehabilitation instruction and education, managing clinic inventory, applying and removing casts, and brace fitting

Job Essentials

  • Assesses patients to determine modifications of therapy and treatment needs in consultation with physician or physical therapist.

  • Develops exercise programs that appropriately addresses patient's short and long term goals.

  • Demonstrate and help patients execute prescribed therapeutic exercises per physician protocols or physical therapist directions.

  • Monitors patient's response to treatment.

  • Educates patients regarding exercise program, health needs, and risks.

  • Coordinates care with other patient care providers as appropriate.

  • Completes appropriate documentation including reports, treatments, intake forms, message logs etc.

  • Cleans, maintains, and inspects exercise equipment. Reports repair and maintenance needs.

  • Actively engages in marketing and community educational programs.

  • Provides Certified Athletic Trainer services as assigned: Work closely with physician to facilitate post-operative care and injury treatment/rehabilitation.

  • Educate patients on injuries, diagnosis and post-operative care and attend to patient questions/messages for physician.

  • Perform the following duties for patients: Casting, Splinting, Brace fitting, Wound care and bandaging, Taking vitals, drawing up medications, perform testing for illnesses such as flu, strep etc.

  • Assist with procedures and concussion treatments.

  • File paperwork correctly and obtain prior authorizations on certain procedures and surgery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current license as an Athletic Trainer in state of practice.

  • National athletic trainer certification.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

  • Experience in a variety of computer programs including data bases, word processing, and internet.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related working experience.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$25.08 - $38.71
