Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center Patient Access Manager in Hayward, California
The Manager of Patient Access oversees various functions and departments related to ensuring access to care for patients, including patient registration, eligibility services, and practice management training within the Electronic Medical Record. The Manager coordinates with registration supervisors at all sites to ensure consistent workflows and training.
Compensation: $72,199 - $88,041 annually, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
Eligibility Department: Responsible for hiring and training eligibility staff, ensuring TVHC financial policies are adhered to, and ensuring proper coverage at all sites. Responsible for attending ongoing trainings at the county and State level and disseminating new information down to all relevant staff. Also responsible for contributing data for reports pertaining to eligibility services (Covered California, Cal-Fresh, etc.). Facilitates the certification of all eligibility staff as Certified Enrollment Counselors for Covered California, as well as training for enrollments in Healthpac, Medi-Cal, CalFresh, and other available services.
Registration/EPM Superuser: Assists Clinic Managers in the hiring process for all new registration staff. Facilitates training program to ensure new staff have appropriate skills and knowledge to perform their job. Coordinates and leads on-going trainings for all registration staff. Responsible for ensuring TVHC registration protocols and financial policies are adhered to. Serves as EPM (electronic practice management) expert and maintains up-to-date knowledge of our practice management software. Acts as main point of contact for all clinics with EPM-related questions and helps troubleshoot issues that arise. In the case of an EPM/EHR transition, will attend all necessary trainings to learn the new system in order to train others and maintain a smooth registration process at all sites.
Reception Department Coordination: Coordinates efforts of reception supervisors at all sites to ensure trainings have been properly disseminated and that staff are following standard work procedures. Serves as point person for all questions and concerns regarding front desk/registration questions.
Customer Service: Responsible for contacting patients who submit complaints, following up with the various clinic sites, and ensuring that patients’ needs are met. Keeps track of trends that occur and works with clinic leadership to prevent future service failures.
Supervises Appointment Clerk/Medical Reception and Eligibility staff.
Assists with clinic management when site managers are out of the office, or when special assistance is needed.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Executive Team.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards.

Requirements
Highschool diploma (or G.E.D) required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant job-related experience required.
3 - 5 years of health center experience in a supervisory or leadership role required.
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English required; comparable skills in Spanish preferred.

Ability to travel to various clinics, as required.

Understanding of medical terminology.
