U.S. Marine Corps SUPERVISORY SPORTS SPECIALIST in Havelock, North Carolina

Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities Incumbent plans, supervises, administers and carries out individual and team sports programs. Organizes intramural sports, clinics, competitions, races, triathlons and seminars involving both the military and DOD civilians. Ensures a well rounded program that meets the requirements of a diverse population, with such sports programs as softball, basketball, volleyball, football, golf, tennis, bowling, racquetball, wrestling, soccer, power lifting and martial arts, etc. Manages multiple sports fields/facilities. Responsible for meeting established goals and effectively manages resources for assigned program. Evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing competitive sports activities. Procures supplies and material, and arranges for publicity and media support to accomplish activities. Submits and monitors assigned budget. Submits required after action reports related to the events held. Prepares and submits reports. Manages property resources as outlined in policy/SOP. Directly supervises Recreation Assistants supporting the program. Develop work schedules based on programs being offered, approves/disapproves leave, and takes appropriate personnel actions.Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues/programs. Maintains security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications Four years experience administering a substantial sports/physical education program with high visibility that demonstrates knowledge of the needs and methods necessary in processing military sports program. Must be able to plan and conduct a variety of enhanced activities. Skilled in effectively organizing and utilizing the available resources within the program framework. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
