The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company Havelock - Environmental Health and Safety Engineer - 25-SE-WIL-EHS in Havelock, North Carolina
Seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer for construction projects.
Successful candidates must demonstrate the following experience and/or capabilities:
- Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions have been completed.
- Support incidents investigations to include interviews, data compilation, photographs and completing proper documentation.
- Evaluate various planning/permits such as: Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up as examples for effective and appropriate mitigation techniques.
- Industrial Hygiene principles and techniques involved in Hearing conservation, Lasers, Silica, Asbestos, Lead work, as examples.
- Understanding of fire protection, flammable/combustible materials storage/management.
- Working knowledge of OSHA Regulations

Minimum candidate Accreditations
- Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety Related field
- Recognized Safety Professional Certification (examples)
- BCSP (GSP or ASP)
Minimum work experience
- Five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general, or
- Five (5) years of continuous general industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general industry.

Working Conditions
- Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor constructions job site settings requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
- Work hours will be determined at the Project or work assignment basis.
- Noise level varies based on location.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
