Description

SUMMARY: The Client Benefits Supervisor reports to the Client Benefits Manager. This position will supervisor and support the client benefits staff and department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Completes welfare/food stamp packets to be submitted to Suffolk DSS centers.

  • Assist clients obtaining identification and other required documentation.

  • Assist clients in scheduling DSS appointments.

  • Collects all documents from resident after eligibility/SAAM/recertification and EMP appointments.

  • Rectifies insurance issues through NYS Medicaid with clients.

  • Processes all in person and mail in recertification applications for all clients.

  • Uploads all benefit cards and other necessary documents into EMR

  • Assists patients to obtain an award letter from Social Security.

  • Calculate all self-pay agreements for self-pay and employed residents.

  • Assist with posting of food stamp payments monthly for Suffolk and Nassau residents (food stamp redemption)

  • Create Pin #’s for food stamp cards

  • Obtains Benefit card requests daily/weekly

  • Complete client applications for social security

  • Completes applications for SSP wires

  • Provide supervision/support to client benefit staff

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

  • Excellent productivity, time management, organization, and attention to detail.

  • Strong computer skills are a must.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • High school diploma

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two years working with DSS/HRA and/or Medicaid applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This job operates in an indoor office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
