Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Adult Education Academic Assistant / AS1080P in Hattiesburg, Mississippi

This position is for an Adult Education Academic Assistant with an educational institution in Gulfport, MS.

Job Descirption: The Adult Education Academic Assistant assists in the overall functioning of the program to ensure quality services for Adult Education students. The Academic Assistant facilitates, schedules, and administers TABE & NCRC testing, as well as, assists with other Adult Education program needs as assigned. The Academic Assistant works under the daily supervision of a qualified instructor and program director.

Duties and Responsibilites: Adheres to all MGCCC policies and procedures. Assists with orientation and assessment of students in the Adult Education program. Coordinates intake and testing schedule for new and returning students. Maintains student audit folders to local and state required expectations. Assists in providing individual support for students. Organizes, uses, and maintains supplies, materials, and equipment. Understands and uses the state approved data system and local college data system. Understands community resources and discusses possible referrals with the instructor and College and Career Navigator. Collects data for local and state reports. Assists instructor in implementing, recording, and monitoring Student Success Plan. Assists instructor in administering, scoring, and evaluating diagnostic tests. Prepares student folders and assists in maintaining records of student progress. Maintains a professional attitude toward students and college personnel. Accepts flexible work schedule and location, as program needs change. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Mandatory: Minimum of Associate's degree from an institution of higher education. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Experience in an educational setting. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable: Bachelor's degree in Business, education, or computer related field. Community college experience and/or SCT Banner experience. Experience teaching High School Equivalency/Basic Skills.
