The Global Learning & Knowledge Management (GLKM) team provides a full range of dynamic, evolving learning and performance solutions that enrich our colleagues’ skills and knowledge, powering engagement and driving business results. The Leadership Development Specialist (LDS) facilitates a full range of evolving and dynamic learning and performance solutions to our colleagues. The LDS will deliver and consult on learning solutions which include facilitating leadership development workshops, on-the-job integrated coaching, and various continuous learning initiatives. The LDS partners closely with frontline leadership to support the performance and development of people leaders across our Global Services Group (GSG)

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • This role is responsible for developing world-class people leaders at American Express:

  • Facilitate a range of leadership workshops, best practice sharing sessions, and other immersive experiences to help elevate leadership performance (primary responsibility).

  • Support the delivery of our global leadership development programs to new and existing people leaders.

  • Coach both stakeholders and peers to improve their effectiveness as leaders.

  • Guide leaders and peers through the change process.

  • Partner with stakeholders to diagnose performance gaps to help enable the creation of meaningful learning experiences.

  • Partner with Learning Design teams to co-create targeted and innovative learning experiences which improve leader effectiveness.

  • Support and collaborate with global teams to help drive forward a variety of different Leadership Development projects.

  • Participate in operational leadership meetings and other ad-hoc duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Subject matter expertise on the principles of effective leadership.

  • Minimum 3 years of classroom or virtual facilitation with experience delivering to leadership audiences.

  • Experience working with hybrid/virtual teams and leadership.

  • Passion for coaching with a proven ability to effectively coach others including those more senior to yourself.

  • Strong relationship management skills with ability to build credibility quickly, influence, and drive results in collaboration with peers.

  • Proven project management skills with ability to work autonomously in an agile environment.

  • Ability to innovate, develop, and execute new ideas.

  • Strong time management skills and a proven ability to consistently deliver on pre-set timelines and adapt to changes quickly when needed.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office related products (e.g., PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, Planner, etc.)

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to flex working hours as required by business need.

Preferred Qualifications

  • People leader experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a call-center environment

  • A certificate or degree with emphasis on Adult Education

  • Proficient in the application of performance coaching techniques both in the classroom and in production.
