    THE ROLE:

    Our ideal candidate will have effective communication skills both written and verbal, produce progress reports and be able to collaborate with stakeholders.

  • The Education Service Specialist will serve in the Bureau of Educator Effectiveness and Professional Learning. The primary role of the position is to provide support and guidance in managing the Aspiring Educators Diversity Scholarship Program.

  • The mission of the CSDE Talent Office is to develop and deploy talent management and human capital development strategies to districts and schools statewide so that the most effective educators are in every school and classroom and all students are prepared for college, career and life. This position is located within the Bureau of Educator Effectiveness.

    Selection Plan

  • For current state employees, salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e., Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Departments of Aging and Disability Services, Developmental Services, Education and the Office of Early Childhood this class assists in planning and executing a program for the improvement of education in the state, responsible under supervision for carrying out specific assignments of limited difficulty and scope.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Assists in the development and administration of educational programs and services offered by the state;

  • Provides professional leadership and guidance to school authorities, professional organizations, students and various community groups and individuals;

  • May personally administer certain phases of educational program within the framework of bureau policy;

  • May assist in directing the routine functioning of the bureau;

  • Performs related duties as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education with particular reference to the field concerned;

  • Teaching skill;

  • Ability to

  • prepare reports;

  • deal effectively with others.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of professional experience.

  • Department of Aging and Disability Services: A Master's degree and three (3) years of professional experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing manuals, or reports for education-based programs

  • Experience with Project Management

  • Experience using Excel, including creating pivot tables, v-lookup and advanced formulas

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience developing electronic and print communication with graphics for internal and external publication

  • Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience with web site development and updating

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents in this class in certain positions may be required to possess an appropriate certificate issued by the State Board of Education.
