Institute for Community Research CRA Program Assistant in Hartford, Connecticut
The Institute for Community Research (ICR) has an opening for a 12 - 18-month part time (2 - 3 days per week) evaluator position to support the activities of the program entitled Building CBO Power through Assessment, Analysis and Advocacy. The program is offered through the ICR based Community Research Alliance (CRA) and in partnership with the UCONN Health Disparities Institute. The CRA is an alliance of community organizations/service providers and university partners in central Connecticut that have a common interest in promoting health-related equity, and reducing health-related disparities through building inter and intra-organization evaluation capacity, sharing knowledge, and engagement in community-based research activities with partners at local institutions and universities. The position is based at ICR and supervised by the program co-directors.
Responsibilities: Documentation and Evaluation
- Contribute to preparation of participating organizations in human subjects protections and consenting
- Support any IRB applications to UCONN and ICR.
- Participate in the creation of methods and approaches to documentation of training sessions
- Collect session assessment instruments and enter and summarize them in Excel or other management programs
- Help to conceptualize and collect network data from organizations before, during and post training
- Document all training sessions
- Transcribe any zoom sessions and prepare them for analysis (March and April 2025)
- Participate in data analysis and writeup for reports and publications
Communication
- Assist in the preparation of reports and proposals for future funding
- Contribute to communications with the CRA network
- Help to support connections with policy makers, funders and advocacy organizations.
Qualifications:
MA/MS/MPH in social work, public health, or social science
Prior experience in community-based research management and evaluation of community programs with CBOs and groups of CBOs.
Experience with qualitative research methods and instruction
Experience with research ethics, consent forms and processes, IRB management and coordination and IRB training, with ICR and UCONN IRBs
Work experience with diverse ethnic/cultural, linguistic and health disparities communities in Hartford or similar setting.
Excellent communication, computer and interpersonal skills to manage a wide variety of internal and external relationships including with local and state legislators and advocacy organizations
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with good attention to detail and accuracy
Good writing, editing, computer and problem-solving skills
Must be able to manage files and records with Excel and Google Drive.
