The Business Intelligence Consultant will be responsible for design and implementation of end-to-end analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strategic perspective, the skills to deliver usable dashboards and analyses, and an aptitude for collaborating with business customers.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, & implement end-to end business intelligence and analytical solutions

  • Design & develop interactive dashboards with Tableau and ThoughtSpot using advanced visualization techniques

  • Manipulate raw data sets into information fit for analysis to provide business insights for senior leaders

  • Create functional and technical documentation related to solutions

  • Prepare & provide training on all tools delivered

  • Partner with business teams to identify requirements and business needs

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders / data consumers

  • Manipulate, validate, and analyze data using Excel, SQL, and other analytical tools to develop insights

  • Aid business partners with reporting, dashboard and other analytic solutions to achieve their business goals

  • Provide ad-hoc data analysis and support to business teams

  • Lead projects and/or work streams independently while engaging the appropriate resources as needed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Business Intelligence Consultant has a passion for building BI/analytics applications, is results-oriented and has strong leadership skills. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities in a fast-paced environment:

  • Experience building business intelligence & analytics tools is preferred

  • Proven analytical skills with attention to detail balanced with the ability to see and make sense of the big picture

  • Experience in analyzing data, synthesizing and comparing information to understand issues, identifying cause/effect relationships and exploring alternative solutions to support sound decision making

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Confident, self-starter capable of independently driving multiple concurrent projects to completion

  • Ability to think creatively and collaboratively with a team to solve problems

  • Ability to build effective relationships with business partners

  • Ability to listen effectively, process information, ask appropriate questions for clarification and execute tasks accordingly

  • Strong organizational, planning & problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills

  • Strong quantitative skills

  • Dedicated to self-development with an ongoing willingness to learn new things

  • Experience working in an Agile framework is a plus

  • Property & Casualty insurance industry experience is a plus

    Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship, now and in the future.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$74,000 - $111,000
