Job Description: Vice President, Product Management & Go to Market, Payment Optmization

The Digital Transformation and Optimization team is part of Consumer Solutions. We are responsible for optimizing eCommerce solutions and for driving transaction authorization improvement for digital transactions globally. We do this by being consumer centric for our products and services and being relevant in all consumer money flows.

Role:

Ever have your transaction declined when hailing a ride? Can’t watch your favorite TV show because your streaming service payment was interrupted? Denied at checkout when ordering a new pair of sneakers?

These are all frustrating experiences for the cardholder that digital merchants are trying to avoid.

We are driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to develop new solutions on our authorization network to solve for these pain points. These new solutions will incorporate innovative products, services, and capabilities to increase digital authorization performance and drive higher conversion rates for our merchant, acquiring, and payment service provider partners.

As the Vice President, Product Management and Go to Market Commercialization, you will play a critical role in bringing solutions to market that drive material value to our customers by gathering insights and testing hypothesis directly with customers and by collaborating with Optimization Product Development, engineers, data analysts, regional product managers, and other customer facing teams.

You will lead a high-performing team and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define and deliver a go to market strategy, aligning with our business objectives and growth strategies.

This is a people leader position and location preferences are United Kingdom, New York, and California.

Key responsibilities:

• Create and lead the end-to-end GTM strategy for our new authorization improvement products including gathering insights, developing KPIs, contributing to the definition of the customer experience/journey, and working in partnership with the Development and Technology teams to ensure value is delivered to customers.

• Accountable for driving customer adoption pipeline and sizing top business development opportunities to unlock growth.

• Serve as a strategic business partner to key geographic and functional business units to execute the go-to-market strategy, align with the overall optimization strategy

• Subject matter expert for all things Optimization to lead customer meetings and participate in deal negotiations to materialize opportunities.

• Actively participate in pilots to understand customer adoption pain points and identify new features/enhancements.

• Engage in idea generation, concept validation, and business case development

• Leverage data, analytics and market insights to come up with recommendations that will drive penetration, adoption, business decisions and development of new and existing strategic solutions, all in the effort to improve authorization performance

• Ability to work in a matrix organization and influence various teams at the global and local level; liaise with Cross functional product teams, Legal, Franchise, Finance, Market Development, Account Management, Customer Experience, Marketing, and other product teams

• Build high-performing teams and actively manage talent by continuously assessing talent needs against current capabilities, addressing any gaps.

ALL ABOUT YOU

• In depth understanding of the ecosystem of payment processing, authorization and acquiring services, with specific experience with an acquirer or payment service provider preferred

• Demonstrated experience as a leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop product talent.

• A results-oriented leader able to drive results and with proven experience in developing go-to-market strategies of new and innovative products and end-to-end product strategy and delivery of scalable solutions.

• Comfortable communicating and collaborating with business stakeholders, engineering and analytics teams at all levels;

• Technical knowledge and skill to speak on the technical aspects of authorization performance, payment processing and acquiring;

• Able to adapt and is resilient to thrive in high pressure goal-oriented, and substantial revenue growth driven environment.

• Passion for all things digital and intrinsic curiosity to understand new technology

• Entrepreneurial spirit and global mindset with a passion for learning and using data to solve large scale business problems

• Profound industry expertise in product development and management

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
