DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for offering technical guidance for both department-sponsored and locally sponsored projects that involve utility relocation activities ranging from minor to complex. This will involve maintaining direct contact with utility companies throughout the entire process, from utility clearance to letting, awarding, and construction, to ensure that all required utility relocations are completed, and milestones are met. Additionally, you will attend project scoping's as assigned, providing valuable insights and comments on potential utility impacts and the level of effort needed to coordinate utilities. As part of your role, you will also provide input to project managers in completing subsurface utility engineering (SUE) evaluation and determining whether higher levels of utility investigation are necessary. This may require traveling to project sites as needed to conduct field views and coordinate on-site meetings during the design and/or construction phases. Building and fostering good relationships with utilities and designers is crucial in this position. You will be expected to provide technical guidance and support in the development of plans for coordination purposes. Additionally, you will review proposed relocation plans to ensure adherence to Design Manual 5 and other established standards. Another important aspect of this role is the utilization and support of internal and external partners in using the Utility Relocation Management System (URMS) to work towards utility clearance. You will also be responsible for reviewing real property interest packages for adequacy before they are submitted for Central Office Legal Review. Overall, this position requires a strong technical background, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders throughout the utility relocation process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Utility Relocation Technician; or Two years of technical utility relocation work experience and an associate's degree in surveying, civil engineering, or in a design and drafting technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of technical utility relocation work experience.
