DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of federal and state mandated reporting and correlating accounting tasks for medical assistance related grants.  You will supervise staff accountants within the unit to fulfill the team's duties, in addition to providing professional analysis, internal control over accounting and budgetary compliance, and professional, technical guidance to grant programs.  You will serve as a key liaison with state and federal partners, and collaborate with agencies and business associates to assess initiatives and provide guidance to department and agency personnel.  We are looking for someone who possesses an in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, strong analytics, and proven team collaboration in the planning and achievement of high-quality accounting deliverables.  This professional reports to the Medical Assistance Accounting Manager within the Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management (BAFM).

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements.  Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Accountant 2; or Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.  A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
