This position is responsible for performing investigations into at-risk motor carriers in accordance with state laws and the federal motor carrier safety regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK A Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer conducts compliance review investigations by visiting motor carrier company facilities and reviewing documented hours of service, vehicle maintenance, financial responsibility, and driver qualifications. You use this information to ascertain whether the carrier is operating in compliance with all applicable regulations and take appropriate action based on the outcome. In addition, you select motor carrier vehicles for a variety of inspections, interview operators, review vehicle and operator documents, perform inspections of truck and trailer safety parts and equipment, consult and interpret laws, issue traffic citations and warnings, and notify operators of required corrective action.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of training as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer Trainee; or One year of experience inspecting motor carrier vehicles and operators for compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and a high school diploma or equivalency. Special Requirement: You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C motor vehicle operator's license. Additional Requirements: You must possess or attain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in job. You must possess or attain Basic MCSAP Certification during the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in job. You must possess or attain General Hazardous Materials Inspection Certification during the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in job. You must obtain MCSAP Compliance Review Certification during the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in the job. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass criminal history and background investigations.
