The Department of General Services, Environmental Control Center, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Refrigeration Specialist. This position gives you the opportunity to utilize your experience to analyze performance and efficiency, troubleshoot issues and faults, and repair complex HVAC and refrigeration equipment malfunctions within DGS owned and managed facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As one of our HVAC Refrigeration Specialists, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience to maintain a variety of complex HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Your work on this equipment will include analyzing performance and efficiency, installation, balancing, testing, troubleshooting issues and faults, repairing malfunctions, and related duties. You will regularly interact with the building automation systems, technicians, other trades persons, contracted personnel, engineers, and other technical staff. While in this role, you may have the opportunity to act as our department liaison, relying on your mechanical expertise and facility knowledge to inform a variety of projects. Most of your work will be performed independently and you may also provide on-the-job training to other trades personnel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. May be assigned to work in various locations in and around the capital complex. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Five years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including three years working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes three years working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls. Necessary Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification. This position requires possession of an active Non-Commercial Class C Driver's License. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
