DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food and Nutrition Services Adviser 1, you will conduct essential administrative reviews of federally funded Child Nutrition (CN) programs to ensure that such programs remain in accordance with federal guidelines.  Specific duties involve visiting sponsoring entities to ensure that food services are being conducted in compliance with federal regulations and state policies, and providing training and technical assistance for CN program sponsors, to include developing and conducting training sessions for CN program administrators and staff.

You will be responsible for evaluating menus for compliance in meeting federal nutritional standards and state policies, and reviewing and analyzing statistical and financial data to determine if sponsors are adhering to regulations.  This professional prepares corrective action plans which describe any regulatory violations, and works with sponsors to develop suggested actions to correct deficiencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of professional experience in nutrition services or school food service management and a bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, food service administration, or hotel and restaurant management; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Fayette, Greene, Washington, or Westmoreland counties.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
