Position Overview

The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the company's accounting function; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments. This individual is responsible for reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information and assisting the immediate supervisor with administrative tasks to support department operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Senior Accountant and Assistant Controller with financial closing processes.
  • Supports the preparation of general ledger reconcilements in conformance with SOX compliance.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other company personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Assists with annual budget process.
  • Assists with updating SOX Procedure Narratives and the Internal Control process.
  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate company personnel.
  • Assists the immediate supervisor with various administrative tasks to support department operations, as directed; may also be assigned special projects.
  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment, which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, SOX procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company's compliance with all regulatory requirements; ensures that all office personnel adhere to the same. Manages risk by completing all mandatory compliance and regulatory training assigned by the stated due date.
  • Provides technical guidance, on the job training, and support to Accounting Representatives, Accounting Specialist, and Financial Operations Specialist.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Performs tasks, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

     

Education & Qualifications

  • A B.S. degree in a related field normally required; specialized banking education and training.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' related experience normally required.  
  • Experience with various accounting support software such as Vena, ProLease, Certent, Derivative Edge, FloQast, BankTel, or Blackline a plus.

Proficient attention to detail; mathematics skills; working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures; proficient interpersonal relations and communica ive skills; moderate PC skills; reading, writing, grammar skills; moderate report-writing and analytical skills; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills.
