HEAD START/EARLY HEAD START

Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we work with children (ages 0 - 5) and their families to provide the skills, confidence and stable home life necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond. Children also receive a broad array of health services including screenings and referrals, maintenance of immunization schedules, nutrition assessments and follow-ups, mental health assessments as part of initial screenings, and determination if any mental or physical delays are present. Children receive health and dental services and have access to ongoing and acute and routine health and dental care. Enrolled children receive healthy meals, along with an assessment of their nutritional needs and the necessary follow-ups. Nutrition education is available for parents and incorporated into daily classroom activities for the children.

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

Regional Director may exercise the same general agency-wide functions as those exercised by the Deputy Directors. However, the Deputy Director may also administer to the Regional Director specific functional responsibilities and duties for which the Regional Director will be individually accountable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with ensuring regulation compliance of their designated of grant.

  • Aide the Senior Director and Deputy Directors in administering agency policies and developing long-range goals and objectives

  • Participate in the design of internal structure, systems, and policies.

  • Ensure adequate systems are in place to maintain highest quality of services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.

  • Participate in HS executive meetings in development of program budgets and reviews.

  • Provide monitoring, leadership and support to all grants/ (Head Start/Early Head Start, Sate Preschool, and Child Care Partnerships)

  • Provide regional and program oversight in the following areas;program monitoring, effective site management, outcomes development and measurement, data tracking and reporting and systems plans development and review. But not limited to the mentioned areas.

  • Stay current with federal, state, and local laws and regulations including: New initiatives, policy clarifications, Office of Head Start (OFS) frameworks, and all special education laws (IDEA, PL 94-142, PL 99-459) and civil rights laws (Section 504 and Americans with Disabilities Act), Caring for our children Safety regulations, Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) Regulations.

  • Work with state, regional and Federal Head Start personnel to maintain relationships. Stay informed of changes and trends. Ensure compliance with standards and provide staff/parent training and development.

  • Assist with annual grant applications and compliance reporting requirements, such as Program Information Reports (PIR), Annual Reports and other required program reports.

  • Establish and maintain relationships and collaborations with the public-school districts, higher education and community agencies and partners.

  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

  • Proof at the time of hire

  • TB clearance within 6 months prior

  • Annual Influenza vaccination (between Aug 1 - Dec 1)

  • Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization

  • Health screening at the time of employment

  • Requires ability to interact with children in a busy environment including, but not limited to:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequently kneel and squat

  • Ability to move quickly

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor-s degree in Social services, Child Development, Education, Education Administration, Business Administration Management or related field

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years or more of progressively responsible management and Head Start Experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master-s Degree related field

  • Direct experience in managing government funded programs

  • CACFP experience

  • Experience with upholding Head Start Performance Standards and State licensing requirement.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish (written and verbal)
